Yes you should always send an SASE or SAE with IRCs/£. :)

Happy collecting!

Yes it would get expensive. Tough :P You can't expect the celebrity to pay to do you a favour :) You should always send an SASE.

YES you should always send an SASE (or something to cover the cost, like money or IRCs). There is NO excuse not to.

I always send a sase because you have a way better chance of getting a reply if it's easy for them and all they have to do is sign,seal and deliver...Plus not all the celebs i send to are millionaires alot are just working actors and i don't expect them to pay the postage but it is a bit expensive especially living in canada and having to buy us stamps so i mostly send to canadian venues now... {up}

In My Opinion...I Really Think You Should Send Sase's...Even If They Dont USe It, You HAve a Way Better Chance Of Getting a Reply Becasue You Included a SASE....I Think That When People Just Send a Letter That They aRe Taking Advantage Of Celebs Having Alot of $$$....And I Dnt Think That Is Right....But Thats Jut My POV.

I Always send Sase's Because:

1. It Gets a Faster Responce Than Letters And Its True.. :)

AND

2. It Shows Respect To That Person So It Dont Make Them Think:
"..Why Am I Paying For This....Because I Have Alot of Money.."

Hope This Helped You....Make aThe Right Choice. Good Luck.

I ALWAYS send a SASE. Celebs get thousands of letters each week and to expect them to give you a photo as well as pay for an envelope and return postage? You might as well give up the hobby. :lol: Sending a SASE shows the celeb you care enough to have them reply and it makes their job TONS easier. 90% of the time celebs won't reply if you don't send a SASE then your out of luck and the money you'd pay to re-send you could have just put that stamp on a SASE and gotten a success. ;-)

And yes, it can get exspensive 'after a while' as you say, but think how much the celeb would have to pay if they provided all the postage to all who wrote. They may be millionares, but that doesn't mean we should take advantage of that.

Just my thoughts. {up}

very well said Isiah, i have always looked at the authenticity of autographs for sale,even with a COA ,there will always be an element of doubt,i have only ever bought a small handful of about 5,and these were from a charity shop,so i cannot be sure if they are real,but for the costs involved its more worth while sending directly to the agents.then at least its 50/50 wether its secretarial or real.
i use boardbacked envelopes inside normal envelopes and send two photos with each request,to allow for damage.these boardbacks are 50 for £15 on e bay,its saved me a lot of damage.

You should read the previous feedback for whoever you intend to send an LOR to. If the person is represented by their studio, agency, television network etc, and that organization always uses their own envelopes, then you will not need to send an SASE, as it would be a waste of money.

Also, as far as "Getting expensive", it's much cheaper in the long run , to send your own requests for an autograph to the person themselves, rather than buying one online and paying ridiculous sums of money without the guarantee of genuineness.

I usually send an SASE unless I am sending to people in BBC soaps such as Eastenders or Doctors or Australian soap Neighbours as these pay postage and therefore it is not needed. Although I do enclose an SAE.

As for the cost of envelopes I pay £.30 for 12 c5 envelopes so that is quite cheap.
