That is pretty early, but I think the clubhouse staff will hold on to your mail until the players arrive.

Players usually get to Spring Training early. There are probably a few there now, especially ones that are rehabbing injuries. You really can't send your letters too early because all of the players will be there in the next few weeks.

You will have to do your research on each player before sending out higher end items TTM. I usually only send cards or 4x6s since they are easy and cheap to replace. I tend to save things like baseballs and 8x10s for IP 'graphs.

The smaller the item, the better! They will sign baseballs, hats, cards, photos, anything that is a reasonable size. I don't think they would want to lug around something big (ex. bats, helmets, gloves)! I know I wouldn't.

Do they sign baseballs and mini helmets if I send them or just photos people send?

Spring training this year starts Februrary 17th, when pitchers and catchers report.

Always send something to get signed, especially to spring training facilities. Never expect the players to look around and find something to sign for you, or you'll just be setting yourself up for a failure.
