Wouldn't need to, I once got insufficient postage with 3 stamps.

Well, if anyone else has any idea as to how magicdude20 is managing this, do share, as I'm rather puzzled.

Thanks for the info dfreely, I would suggest to yourself or anyone else to try using 2 stamps and see if it works for you too, it's been working fine for me, I have yet to get a RTS for insuffciant postage, nor have I been asked to pay any postage on delivery. I honestly hope this helps save someone from over using stamps, I know I used to use waaay too many

It can't "downgrade" because First Class is the lowest one for regular customers. Second Class is reserved businesses that send newspapers and magazines. You also wouldn't need extra stamps for Hawaii/Alaska because postage for mail under 1 lb isn't zone-based.

Certainly very strange..

And how are you getting away with using just 2 stamps? The mailer itself is over 2 ounces.
I think by using 2 stamps it gets sent "second class mail" or it's "downgraded" or something, frankly I'm not entirely sure, I just know that my original request envelopes (10x13) which include a LOR and an envelope are also sent with 2 stamps, I usually put 3 on if I include a picture to be signed. And If I'm only expecting one photo back, I do only use 2 stamps on my return envelopes, I will use 3, if I'm getting more than one auto, or when mailing to Hawaii or Alaska. Frankly I don't know all the in's and out's of the post office system, but that's been working for me.

The Duck brand is special for a couple of reasons, I've seen a couple of "office supply brand" mailers that bend a bit easy, 3m/scotch brand has good mailers, but I have a small issue with them, when I put the photo mailer into the envelope to send to a celeb, I have to bend the mailer at the fold to close the envelope, however the perferated line to rip open the envelope is very close to fold line to close the envelope, so the envelope could rip open a bit on accident. While I'm sure others here have been using the 3m/scotch brands with no issues, I do prefer the Duck Brand. I've also seen the Duck brand sell for less, and if I don't buy them in bulk (mainly because I "need" 1 or 2 rather quickly) I find that the prices are a little better.

I thought I'd include a quick pic of multiple successes using only 2 stamps

Hope this helps

What's so special about the Duck brand?

And how are you getting away with using just 2 stamps? The mailer itself is over 2 ounces.

I use Duck brand photo mailers, to get an 8x10 photo back in a cardboard photo mailer it only takes 2 stamps

I buy my return envelopes in bulk so they're cheaper, under a buck a peice
