Firstly, when writing VV, make sure the venue passes on fanmail. If it is not listed as either on the site, see if you can go on the venues website and look for a fanmail policy. If they do not have one, email or call and ask what their policy is about it. That should help with your VV success rate. As well, I have written to many company's, with all my requests coming back successful... except for one. That is, however, the result of extensive research to determine whether or not the artist signs via agency, or company. This can commonly be done by looking at previous feedback. If none is present, you may need to do some research, contact via the artists website, or call, to ask about that policy, again. This has all worked very well for me, however, I don't send to major stars, and generally send to older, or quieter artists, if you will. None of the newer people, not my cup of tea...
