I've been lucky so far, I had one verbal warning about copyright, but the lady who works on the counter of the supermarket (a UK one) knows that I'm getting singles to send off for autographs for personal use so doesn't bother me about it.
I suspect that the problems arise when middle managers (and having worked in retail, it is always middle managers of a certain immediately identifiable type, who are the most spectacularly unimaginative and inept people in the entire organisation) get bees in their bonnet and don't allow the people who actually do the work make the distinction between people coming in and printing off 100 copies of a photo from Star Wars to take and sell at a boot sale and people printing off single copies to send to the person on the picture, who also has the right to sign it or not when it reaches them.
