The people at my post office put the "Do Not Bend" stamp all over my packages for me without me even asking because they know I send off a lot of autograph request. You shouldn't be charged for this. BECAUSE OTHERWISE, they will bend your item beyond recognition...its in their job description.

Try your luck at a different post office, or use the self service kiosk, as you mentioned. Problem solved. {up}

Mine aren't rigid either. I use smaller envelopes so they weigh in at about an ounce, sometimes less.

Again, it depends on where you are. My envelope was not rigid, and she was going to charge me extra for having written "do not bend." When I crossed it off, I wasn't charged extra.

You don't get a charged for putting "Please do not bend" on an envelope. You usually get a the additional fee for sending an envelope that is "rigid", which the USPS charges an additional fee because it has to be hand sorted and not machine sorted.

I have found that some Post Offices are more easy going then others. There are about 10 Post Offices within 5 minutes of me (yes thats is why stamps are so expensive-- one large one would be fantastic) one is amazing and that is the one I usually go to. 2 of them are horrible and just don't know anything about their job and 2 go exactly by the book and love to charge additional fees and even custom forms for requests abroad. I don't frequent those anymore.

Oh God.... this could be why I got nothing back from 7 requests I sent to the USA.... oh **** I am so annoyed if this is why....I really do feel like punching something right about now lol
Doubt it. It's a location-to-location thing, and the majority doesn't seem to add a surcharge for "Do Not Bend".
Ah fair enough, thanks buddy.you think it's ignorance/misinformation, or just a way to cheat people out of some more money?

What?? Never had that happen to me before. I write DO NOT BEND!! on every single envelope I send out even to UK and other countries and I always get them back. Never been told that before. I think some of the postal people get misinformed on how to handle things like that.

Lucky then i'd decided to send $2 worth of stamps per envelope that I have Do Not Bend stamped on for my USA requests.

Is enough for letter or package rate!
