some will, some won't. I know that Silver is the worst color to use when sending home printed photos, the stuff they use to make it shiny conflicts with the paper and smears terribly & rubs right off. I used to print glossy photos when I first started and did have some some success with them not smearing, but since switching to Matte photo finish I've never had any trouble at all. Ocassionally I'll get one, but it more smudged then smeared.

Lol the shocking autograph related news keeps rolling in  My last ten requests I have home printed using glossy photo paper. But I wrote on one in permanent pen, and it stayed on perfectly?

Yeah like Ryan said, it is the photo paper. If you can't afford to have your photos printed professionally or you need them done quickly I would suggest using matte photo paper, basically non-glossy photo paper. I have used it several times and have never had a problem with smearing or smudging.

Yep, that's what happens when you print photos from home on glossy photo paper. The printer ink fills in the pores on the photo paper, so when a sharpies is applied it can't soak in, so it rubs off or smears.

that's why I switched to having my photos done at a professional photo lab. they use high quality inks and paper, much different than the photo paper or inks you buy at the store.
