Only times I ever have to put more than one large stamp on is when I use my hardback envelopes, I have to put a polythene packet around it so they can send it back to me in the hardback envelope. But I don't do that anymore, I just use a folded up A4 inside, you don't always need to include a lot, if any cardboard.
