But you need to put a stamp on the self addressed envelope so that is why I need one.
I have looked on Ebay but they are only collectible stamps

Actually, these stamps are the ones we use when we in the USA send things to the UK & other countries. {up} for sending to the USA from the UK, you have to use your own countries postage on the envelopes. {up}

you can try the USPS website, but they don't ship stamps outside of the USA unfortunately. you can try Ebay, but they might be more expensive on there.

I don't think they do, you can only get those from people who live in the USA. if you have paypal, I'd be happy to help you get some, we have them at our office. {up}

do the post offices in the UK sell them?

You'll need to purchase some of thes $1.05 airmail stamps, for people in the USA to be able to reply back to you. you'll need one stamp for anything under 1-ounce. if it's higher than that, you'll need two or three. {up} for mailing your letter, you simply need to take it to your local post office.
