If I send a large photo (8X10s) I add cardboard with the photo(s) but no special envelope.

As to your postage question: both are important for US to UK. There is a list of costs for legal sized envelopes and one for large envelopes. Check out the usps.com website--it can be daunting at first but then it is pretty simple: select ending destination, then size of envelope and add the weight. I use a kitchen scale to weigh my requests. Most 8X10s in a 9X12 envelope will be about 2 ounces, adding cardboard is 3, etc.

Safety tips needed (sending DVD covers and large photos)

Hey guys :)

I'm planning to send out a few DVD covers to my favourite actresses who sign TTM. I've done that once as I usually only collect 10x15cm (4x6) pictures.
So far I've gotten 1 DVd cover back, and it was/is in a good condition. However, I'd like to know how you guys manage to keep your large pictures/covers from bending or autographs to smear.

Do you use a special kind of envelope? Do you use anything to protect the stuff you sent? If so, what do you use? (Apart from "do not bend")
(I'm planning to send some of my favourite covers out to the US so I have to make sure that nothing goes wrong) ;)

And one more question regarding postage. For letters from the US to Europe, does the size matter or rather the weight?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks :)
