I live in the UK and had the reverse problem when I was writing to the USA with no stamps. I sent US dollars to there and my success rate went up. I would recommend you send sterling rather than dollars if writing to the UK. Also IRCs are no longer available to buy in the UK.

I personally have never sent cash, but I have seen many successes from people that do use that method.

I am sending some VV letters from the USA to the UK. I want to include postage, but I have no IRC's or UK stamps. Would sending US money suffice for postage to insure a reply? Thanks!
