I also don't know because the redeeming price is 0,98$ when the minimum postage to Italy is 0,98$, does mean that here from Italy we need always minimum 2 IRCs, I don't think it is right as the UPU has created the IRCs specifically to answer to anyone in the world without paying.

Marco
Yeah, you would need 2, becuase the price used to be $.98, but went up to $1.05 for every country except Canada and Mexico

You say that the redeming price of the IRC in the US is $1.05. So why they response me in the email last week following:"International reply coupons purchased in foreign countries (with an expiration date of December 31, 2013) are exchangeable at U.S. Post Office facilities toward the purchase of postage stamps and embossed stamped envelopes at $0.98 per coupon irrespective of the country where they were purchased." Where they wrong? Also here is written 0,98$: http://about.usps.com/postal-bulletin/2 ... #ep1444849 :?

Why do you offer me to contact you to calcuate the postage prices? Aren't correct the ones I posted? I take it form the USPS. Please be a little patients, I would just like to know how to calculate the amount of needed coupon by myself, don't think it's an impossibility. I'm curious. :D I conclude, therefore, that the examples I posted are wrong. Or maybe not?

PS: I saw only now that my old posts are gone. Two years ago I was introduced and I posted two success to the signing of Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski.
Thoes prices dont look off to me, but I know a lot of people here have troble with the USPS site, and I just want to make sure you get your items back. Now regarding the IRC I have no clue why they would be worth $.98 because the cost on an international letter hasnt been $.98 for a while now, but uppon checking that appears to be right.

So if thoes prices are right(which they appear to be), you have the calculations spot on!

I'm from Italy, so apologise me if my english isn't perfect. I look on Internet, ask to the UPU and than to the USPS, but I haven't a clear answer, but only confused responses. So now I want write here, maybe someone can confirm what I understand and certainly you are more interrested to help.
My question is, how can I calculate the right amount of IRCs to put in my letter? In the first autographs I got it back also if I put 1 IRC in it, but it was certainly not enought also there was the old shipping costs and I thougt about it only now.

This is what I understand.
The first thing is to ask the postal service from the recipient nation how much is the redeem rate for foreign coupons. If I take as example the USA, it's 0,98$ for the coupons that expire 31 december 2013. Now I have to go to ht USPS and calculate the shipping costs to Italy. Italy is in the price group 5. The shipping costs are following (I take only some wight steps):

Letters
Maximum size approximately
6" x 11" (15cm x 28cm)

Price
1 oz. (28grams) = 1,05$
2 oz. (56gr) = 1,95$
3 oz. (85gr) = 2,79$

Large Envelopes
Maximum size approximately
12" x 15" (30cm x 38cm)

Price
1 oz. (28grams) = 1,75$
2 oz. (56gr) = 2,53$
3 oz. (200gr) = 3,31$

Packages (hypothetically)
Maximum size approximately
Maximum length = 24 inches (61cm)
Maximum length + height + thickness combined = 36 inches (91cm)

Price
1 oz. (28grams) = 3$
2 oz. (56gr) = 3,78$
7 oz. (85gr) = 7.68$

Now I have my prices. Good. The redeem value is 0,98$, does mean that:

In a letter of 23cm x 11cm (9" x 4-1/2") 25 grams (0.88 oz.) I need 2 coupons, because the shipping costs until 1 oz are 1,05$ and the redeem value of a coupon in the USA is 0,98$
In a letter of 23cm x 11cm (9" x 4-1/2") 50 grams (1.76 oz.) I need also 2 coupons, because the shipping costs until 2 oz are 1,95$.
In a letter of 23cm x 11cm (9" x 4-1/2") 70 grams (2.47 oz.) I need 3 coupons, because the shipping costs until 3 oz are 2,79$.

In a large envelope of 25cm x 35cm (10" x 13-4/5") 25 grams (0.88 oz.) I need 2 coupons, because the shipping costs until 1 oz are 1,75$ and the redeem value of a coupon in the USA is 0,98$
In a large envelope of 25cm x 35cm (10" x 13-4/5") 50 grams (1.76 oz.) I need 3 coupons, because the shipping costs until 2 oz are 2,53$.
In a large envelope of 25cm x 35cm (10" x 13-4/5") 70 grams (2.47 oz.) I need 4 coupons, because the shipping costs until 3 oz are 3,31$.

Hypothetically, if I would send a package of 40cm x 20cm x 20cm (16" x 8" x 8") 200grams (7 oz.) for a T-shirt I need 8 IRCs, because the shipping costs for a package of maximum 7 oz. are 7,68$ and the redeem of a coupon in the USA is 0,98$.

Am I right? This is how to calculate the right amount? I think it's obvious, but as I said the USPS and UPU confused me.

Thanks to everyone that will help me!

Regards,
Marco
