It could be either or....I've gotten both. Sometimes I've gotten really cool email successes after giving up hope after no reply and months and months of waiting, and other times Ive gotten really friendly replies where the manager/publicist/etc has even told me what they've gotten signed for me or something like that. Hope this helps. Just remember, if you don't get a reply to your email, it doesn't mean they're ignoring your request. :)
