Yes, pretty much that's how I do it.
Some people tell stuff about themselves, I don't at all.
How I did mine was that I addressed her by her first name in the first line 'Dear Person', followed by a starting paragraph explaining what's enclosed that I want her to sign plus my lack of experience sending out fan letters and photos to be signed. The second paragraph explained how much I appreciate her and getting the chance to meet her and wishing her luck. And then final smaller paragraph with a couple of sentences joking about how I'm not crazy but it's not 100% confirmed. And then a P.S. explaining something about the photo.
