It really depends on the paper too I have tried doing it with professionally prints and it still doesn't come off you need it to be on glossy paper

i agree that most celebs will sign it if it is for yourself and personalize it. otherwise they may not sign if you are just planning on selling it. baseball cards for example are things that don't get personalized. usually i ask for the personalization cause it does show that the celebrity read the letter. if it is from an actor i also ask for a quote that they had in the movie or that i would like them to put.

If it's a professionally-printed photo (and not a computer printed photo), you could always remove the inscriptions/personalization with hair spray.

If you just want there Signature with no greeting they would be thinking you are planning of selling it and won't sign it and it is fairly rude but for e.g. if it was for a charity then all you would have to do is explain it but yeah :) also i think personalised autographs are better if you aren't planning on selling :) gives it more of a personal feeling if you know what i mean :)

Makes sense, I guess I'll just request the auto and hope that it's as impersonal as possible.

Well, you can explain in your letter that you like them this way, but some of celebs will surely think you're planning to sell the autos and therefore wouldn't sign.

Newbie here,

Would it be disrespectful to request from an actor to have them just sign their name ONLY on a photo with no personal greeting? Just asking b/c as we all know, the value is much higher for autographed names only.
