Before I started writing to celebs back in 2008, I called tons of agencies to ask them if they select "material" such as photos and posters to have them sign and also asked them if they read the letter. Jeez, do you REALLY have to argue about everything?
I would be astounded if the American agencies didn't check things, given their attitude to security. The UK agencies are notorious for it, indeed several have it on their website that everything is checked prior to being sent. I'll bow to your five years of experience there though, and the fact that you always know everything.
