I normally go in depth, but it's rather simple to explain:
First, know that you either need to include British pounds or buy UK stamps to add to the envelope you will receive back. You can get them by trade or eBay. Sometimes you can get away with including US Dollars, but use that as a last resort.
Put your fan letter, SASE, pictures/ index cards/ etc in an envelope, have the post office weigh it and buy the appropriate number of Global stamps to send your letter. (0-1 oz: $1.10, 1.01-2: $2.20, etc.) I believe if you send to Canada, you can ship up to 2oz for one Global stamp.
Send it off and wish for the best!
