You would most likely get postage due. If it's coming back from a different country - who knows. You'd probably still get it with nothing due.

I don't put return address on my SASE's in case I get a RTS - so I don't have to mess with re-doing the return address when I re-use the envelope sending to someone else. But, what happens if the star adds something to it and then mails it and there is now insufficient postage?

P.S. I think that deal about them being able to tell under some special light if u reuse stamps is a dream considering the u.s. postal service is almost broke and are tryin to just keep post offices open so yeah I don't think the odd person reusing a stamp is a priority ... ;-)
It depends on what post office you go to, really. Sometimes there will be postage due stamped on a package yet the mail man will never charge me. Sometimes one post office will say they want to charge me extra for "do not bend" but then I've gone to others and they say no such thing.

The light is under the sorting machine. So, they can see if stamps are reused. A friend of mine used to sort mail. He said its unlikely for them to stop an entire belt if they see 2-3 pieces of mail with re used stamps on them. But like I said above, different post offices have different rules. You never know your letter could go by that person on a power trip who is bored.

BUT! I suppose if you're reusing stamps on a SASE - they can't really say YOU reused the stamps. A lot of my SASEs I don't put any return addresses just mine.

I don't know how it is in America but here in Canada you do not pay more if you write "do not bend" As far as postage goes I would not bother reusing canadian stamps because I am not that poor but if I get back things with unmarked American stamps I reuse them when I can simply because I cant buy them easily here and I have got back a few autos with reused American stamps as early as 2013 so I think they can be reused and work ok ... {up}P.S. I think that deal about them being able to tell under some special light if u reuse stamps is a dream considering the u.s. postal service is almost broke and are tryin to just keep post offices open so yeah I don't think the odd person reusing a stamp is a priority ... ;-)

Lmao. True.

I was told by my PO that writing "do not bend" makes the postage go up 20-40 cents. Until I read their TOU for post office boxes. That said anything not able to be bent or fit in normal PO box gets sent to a locker. (Meaning won't get bent) Never said anything about being charged more. They stopped charging me that.

Depends which country your talking about as a lot of country's don't have that and I reuse stamps every week and had no mail charge yet. It's hardy fraud if the stamps haven't been stamped it a bit like being a newspaper seller flicking through the paper reading the sport headlines then reselling it. Lol
Yeah, I live in the US so I know they use it. I wouldn't risk it. Not worth it to me. I can afford other stamps.

Yeah just because they don't have black marks on it they still went under the lights and when they go under again and glow yellowish green to show it's already been used. It's called zinc orthosilicate. So not worth having a mail fraud charge for a few bucks in stamps.

Good for you. But I wouldn't and that's the truth. You can. By all means go for it. :)
