Seems that some countries still sell these IRCs, hence I can buy them in Romania and France (that I know of). Since the only less complicated way, and maybe appreciated by the future sender are IRCs, I can simply put a number of IRCs (since we know the value of an IRC in UK) in the envelope and send them along with the product I want signed.

Monday will start this, and will let you know when and if this works. You can judge about the time necessary for this from the timestamp of this post.

I changed the first reply because I thought you were asking about buying IRC's in the UK.
I then saw your other posts and realised I was wrong.

Sometimes with language things get lost in translation. When talking about "cost" that makes (me anyway) think you want to purchase IRC'S in the UK, hence my first reply. I then saw you were talking about redemption/exchange value.

Glad I was able to help :)

But you are asking about using them for return postage (from UK to Romania), which you correctly state is mandatory under the UPU rules- Post Office's are not obliged to sell them but they are obliged to redeem them which is what you are needing.

http://www.upu.int/nc/en/activities/int ... t-irc.html

Each IRC's redemption is worth the current minimum worldwide airmail letter value. This is £0.88p here in the UK.

Therefore when you exchange an IRC in the UK for return international postage each one is worth £0.88p.

I suggested paper currency might work out cheaper because you would need lots of IRC's for the item you are wanting returned to you.

If you still think I am giving out the wrong information then Royal Mail (UK post office) are on Twitter and are very good about answering questions. Just ask them the redemption value of an IRC if you don't believe me.
Thank god for this reply. A very clear and detailed one, I say.
So, an UPU (or IRC) is valued at £0.88p in UK.
For all the others who tried to reply anything else, I wasn't asking from where or if I can buy from UK, I was asking HOW MUCH.
Don't start a squabble for this... move this topic anywhere. Thanks to google bot, anyone can find the answer to this question.

Much obliged, Kimmylee. Your knowledge is precious (that change of your first reply was kind of sneaky).

Must look into it more carefully, but I am almost sure that this is not true.

Kimmylee, as always a superb and detailed response. It's not your fault if the OP doesn't understand how to say please, thank you or figure out what a feedback forum is for. As for the other two extraneous posters in this thread, I wonder when they'll just give up. I don't understand why people just come on to troll... it really does say a lot about their own lives.

All right you lousy mugs - cut the bellyachin'. This is your Aunt Sadie from Jersey City. It seems like you can dish it out but you can't take it no more.

How can you say you don't believe this after a BRITISH person told you
So? Why would they lie?
