Yup VV you could give up on, though sometimes they just take a bunch of mail with them and sign it all at one (eg Hugh Jackman, though he auto-penned it all)

I don't give up on replies for a few years but I do start looking for other addresses after 6 months to a year.

After vv usually 6 months.

I love getting long lost replies-sometimes I have gotten them another way, sometimes not, this is a tricky hobby.

I'm sorry, but this is a somewhat ridiculous question. You wait as long as it takes to get it back. I recently got an autograph back about 8 years after I sent it and it was returned to an old address that I hadn't lived at for 6 years. I'd actually moved residence 3 or 4 times since I sent it. Autograph collecting is about patience.

This may have been posted before, but how long does everyone usually wait before they chalk up a TTM request as a loss?
