I kinda think of it like a job application. I'd rather know for certain that they won't bother/can't sign. Don't see how hard it could be to add to their outgoing mail or just stick it back in a post box. Just kinda annoying.

That's a good question! I wish there was an answer but its probably thought to be too much effort. Sometimes I have gotten RTS when I send to late but sometimes not. I hope that means that the star got it but it could just mean the star of venue trashed it!

When I was first getting started writing VV, I accidentally send a letter for a concert the previous year (website just said June so I assumed it was the current year  ). I never heard from the venue or the star. Something like that I sure wish they would RTS it, but most others I like the thought that maybe they will get to it eventually.

Why wouldnt someone RTS?

Don't know if this is off-topic, but I notice that a lot of addresses, especially VV never send anything back. I have written to a few people at venues, and at agencies and have simply never heard back. Obviously this is a big problem, and you can never be sure why you have had no reply. Did it get to them? Do they not sign through the mail? Or was the venue address wrong/did you miss their filming dates? Or is it just going to take 1-5 years for them to get around to reading the letter?

So why wouldn't any of those scenarios (except the last one) mean they just send the letters back? I know some send back secretarial 'sorry but's' or 'thanks, but no thanks', and some make the effort to send something back, which shows at least someone cares enough to address the situation. Obviously some people just cant afford to, or dont have the manpower for that, so they dont. But does it cost anything to RTS? Most people put return addresses on their envelopes (you have to sending to some countries), so how hard can it be for people to just shove it back in the postbox? Why don't all people who can't sign, or addresses that cant pass them on just return them to us for peace of mind?
