I sent a couple of pics in that size, but then I realised that my plastic photo wallets were 8x10-- doh!
It works well, though I think I will buy lighter coloured mailers next time so you can just write on them without needing stickers.

The plastic protectors I use are 10x8 too but I just take care with them unless I can find a better more economical way to store them.

You know I've found the best way is to buy the hard backed envelopes you described already, then you buy plastic mailing bags, of course making sure they are the next size up as you can get them in a whole range of sizes and then use the plastic mailing bag/envelope over your hard backed envelope.

The best thing is you're not sending two envelopes and this keeps the price to a minimal.

When the person receives your parcel they just cut through the plastic, remove the return envelope and seal it with your request, works for me very well.

Note - you will not find a perfect snug fit for the mailing bags so find the closest you can and simply fold the excess and tape it down after sealing.

The mailing bags are cheap too, something like 10 for £1.00 or so on eBay and you can choose all kinds of colours.

If you have any questions I will try to help, you can find the mailers on ebay, remember to measure for the closest you need and look for the lowest priced available in your country by using the search filters or you will be waiting weeks for a few mailers from China.

By the way, I only send 12x8's.

So what do you guys send out your requests in? Up until now Ive had to send my 8x10 pics in an A4 hardback envelope in an A3 hardback envelope. I know it seems mad, but I like having 8x10's and I can't find anything smaller than an A3 to fit the A4 into. i've tried folding the A4 inside another, but being hardback means it gets all cracked at the fold and sometimes the pictures come back with a little bend in the middle because of it.

I'm thinking of changing to something else though; i get the feeling that some places, especially Canadian addresses don't like the above-standard size A3's, and i'm worrying it might be contributing to my failures somehow.

So what do you guys (especially in the UK) do about sending out your requests? Or am I just the only one that wants 8x10" photos signed?
