Here's a list of U.S. postal price increases:
http://pe.usps.com/RateCase2007/DMM300_ ... ndFees.htm

Larger envelopes are now at least 87 cents to mail (yikes!). What used to cost 63 cents now costs 97 cents.

You would put on two forever stamps (which will be worth 41 cents each) and then put on however many one cent stamps are needed to reach the appropriate amount (which will be more than 84 cents after the postage increase).

yeah, thats what the original post says :wink:

"The forever stamp is called that because it will cover the cost of postage no matter when it was purchased or used. Meaning, if you bought 1000 of them now at 41 cents a stamp, they could still be used in 75 years, even if the cost of postage then is $5.00."

The rate increases are why I always go over what the postage is for SASE's .
Costs me a little more especially if I mail out several at a time but when I get them back I'm not worried about cost anymore.

i hate raises too... i hope my pending requests won't be affected by the increase... thanks for the post!! =) very interesting....

what if you have the first class stamps? stamps that says "FIRST CLASS" on it, instead of the 39 centss... can you pass those stamps as 41 cents?

by dgangel » Thu Mar 29, 2007 11:57 pm

I thought she meant can you use just 39cents, and will that cover postage.
But as for the postage changing in mid-May, I did not know about that.
Thanks for letting me know {up}

First, the forever stamps go on sale in April. The actual raise however is in May. And dgangel I'm afraid but you're wrong with that. :| We have always been able to use earlier stamps as long as we tack on extra postage to cover the current price. Even though the current rate is $.39, you may choose to use $.37 stamps as long as you add extra postage to it. Stamps are good for their affixed price and may be used regardless of the current rate.
