You can use any stamps for any kind of item, as long as the value of those stamps meet the postage cost
I always recommend 1st &2nd for standard SASEs because they act like US forever stamps and are worth the current selling price. Unlike a stamp say which says £1.23- if your SASE takes a long time to come back, the prices may have risen and that stamp is now insufficient. You may not then get your item back.
With 1st & 2nd the chances of being good for the new price are high.
