i've gotten some responses when i havent sent a SAE or a SASE. but i did notice that it took significantly longer to receive those responses, than when i sent to other people with a SAE or SASE.

Some celebrities do send without an SAE/SASE but it's always best to send a SASE.

Some do respond without an SAE or an SASE but it's always polite to send at the very least an SAE.
