Re: Need HELP with a difficult TTM

Thanks everyone... I decided to use a bubble envelope and took off the dust cover, as was recommended. It ended up costing around 6.00, because it was pretty heavy. I sent a hard-bound book and it was just over the regular limit, so I had to pay a little extra.

I sent it a few days ago, so it probably won't come back for a few months, but I'll make sure to post it on here if it works. I ended up finding bubble envelopes at staples (they were sold individually, so I didn't have to buy a huge pack of them)...

Thanks again. I hope it works... This is the first book I've sent to an author, so it would be really exciting if it came back signed.

I've never sent a book to be signed before but I am sure there is no way they will bend your book. The best thing to send it with is in a soft 10x13 envelope from the brand called Columbian. Or you can buy bubble wrap envelopes sized 10x13.

Just wondering but who is the author? Sometimes if you can find an e-mail or a website and you actually e-mail them. They'll actually let you know how they want it done. I did that with Steve Berry and few others. It works.

I usually just send the cover of the book. My fave is mick foley. He drew all over it.

Same as Whosurdaddy, here. I've never even used the bubbled envelopes, though, just regular 9x12's and I've never had a problem.

In my experience, most hard-bound books will use a $4.60 stamp, (didn't look to see what country you're from) both ways. Just ask the person at the PO to weigh the entire package (but don't seal the 'to' envelope yet). Then when she tells you the price, just double it up, and put it on your SASE, seal the envelope and keep your fingers crossed. I've got 5 or 6 books this way and have never had a problem.

Good luck. Who are you sending to, if you don't mind me asking?

When sending a hard cover book I always take the dust cover off so it doesn't get torn and I use Bubble lined envelopes. I've never had a problem.

When I'm unsure about things like that, I usually go to my local post office and ask them to help out, as they know best. Good luck 8)

I am going to send hardback book to one of my fav authors, but do not know how to send it and what type of SASE to use.

Anyone have any ideas on the particular size of the SASE and the size of the outer package. Maybe a box? I'm not sure...

If anyone has sent a book before, (a hardback book), please let me know how you did it so that it won't get damaged.

Thanks!!!!
