I asked because I keep seeing autographs on First Day Covers that are totally unrelated, like a Bardot signature on a, I don't know, Flag Day FDC. That's a little weird, isn't it?

These tend to be very valuable when they're signed by a person of relevance to what they depict - more valuable than say, a 4x6 photo. The reason is probably because you're getting something highly collectable (an autograph) on something that's already highly collectable (a first day cover). In my opinion an autographed first day cover always looks really elegant and slick.

Hi! I'm kinda new on this so please forgive me if this is a stupid question: what's up with autographs on First Day Covers? Never understood that! Are they worth more?
