Yes, but he's from Czech originally and his first language is Czech. He's one of many players who may play and live in England, but that does not change their native language or nationality.

I would write to him in Czech, I think it would add a more personal touch on it.
It would also make your letter different.
I know from meeting the players after the game that if someone speaks to a foreign player in their native language then they usually have a chat with them because it is different.

There's really no problem in writing to him in his native language. I wrote to Silvestre in French and I received a very sweet personalized message from him on his clubcard.

You could hand write the letter in czech, And then type out an English translation and send them both. {thumb2}

Hi,it's best if you write your letter in english, even though he is czech he is pretty good at english and it's more than likely that he doesn't sort out his own mail.
I wrote to him in english and got a signed club card back from the season just gone. {up}

Hi Sammya :D

I don't see any problem in you writing to him in Czech. If someone is opening his mail and doesn't understand Czech, there's a possiblity that they'll pass the letters onto him if they don't do so already.

Just don't forget to address your envelope properly!

Good luck!

Hi!

I'm wondering this: I'd like to write to Petr Cech for my friend, but the question is, should I write him in English or in Czech? He's Czech, you know, but the address is an English one and I don't know who opens and reads the mail so I don't know what language I should use when writing to him. What would you suggest?

Thanks!

Sammya ;-)
