Agreed! You have to be very wary about who you're contacting. Most of the people I email are Radio presenters and I use the contact forms on the BBC radio websites.
As with any address, as long as you're careful, I think it's fine to use contact forms.

Why not?

I have been a collector for nearly ten years and I've never heard that doing this is wrong. I've had many successes from emailing celebrity websites. One thing to remember though, is ALWAYS offer to send an sase and pay for postage. Most of the time, the celebrity will happily send you an autograph for free but it's always polite to offer as it makes you sound like a real fan and not someone after a free autograph {thumb2}

I normally avoid using the email/contact forms for actors and muscians but if its a sports star i like then i give it a try. I have gotton many golf, motor racing and tennis autographs via the contact page on their website. I always make sure to ask nicely and it normally works

I'd ask if there was a way to get their autographs, then they would either be nice and send it free, or tell you an address :D

Unless stated that the email is for autograph request purposes, do not do so, as you might just be giving away your address to the web team or the tec- crew. Those email's are barley checked anyways as they recive so many emails a day in which they can simply not reply to.

Peter Cetera (of Chicago fame) has a page on his site just for Autograph requests
http://www.PeterCetera.com

I wish more artists (singers/bands) did this
