Yeah.. if you like somebody´s work and decide to buy it, it is your "problem" because nobody forced you to, right? Attitude: if people like me had not bought your albums, today you´d be nobody so you oughta sign this stuff is pathetic, even though I see the point.
It is normal to be disappointed if you don´t get a reply, and if you decide not to like the person because of that anymore, it is again your choice.

Jaffer´s conclusion is right, I agree. People should know how to behave no matter what status they have. Even though sometimes it is understandable that we/they do get annoyed. 8)

A poster earlier on said 'technically, they do owe us'' for making them rich etc etc. No, technically they don't. There seems to be a belief that by supporting them,we are in essence donating to a charity and thus should be owed something as a reward. No. We are purchasing a product. All that we are owed is a quality product, in the same way if we were buying a pepsi, ikea furniture or a childrens toy. I find it ever so slightly immature to say ''that's it, I am no longer a fan'' when they simply do not sign.

That being said, they do owe use something that everyone owes us. Common courtesy and manners. There is no excuse for rudeness to people. Sorry to everyone who has had a celeb be genuinely rude to them.

 That´s some attitude.. :? Disappointing.

I haven´t met that many celebrities, but those I encountered were usually nice and polite, and some were even very sweet :) I of course met some people who were like "okay, this is boring and I do it just because it is part of my job" but they were never rude.

Guess I have been lucky so far :)

It really only goes to show, that you, can never tell, I was waiting outside, The Odeon in London last Thursday, as it was the premiere, of Quentin Taratino's latest movie, Quentin turns up, and spot signs quite a few, and the little group, that I was standing with, including me all got his autograph, he was very good {thumb2} {thumb2}

Then Diana Kruger, came and firstly, just walked passed everyone, not even making any eye contact, then she turned around, smiled, and walked towards, the small group of us, and maybe signed 5, but hey one of them was me, and I got a big smile from her so, was pretty happy.

So Sometimes big stars can, be quite OK, with signing. While some nigh on extras, think that they, are it.

I agree, some of the bigger celebrities are much kinder and more down to earth than the nobodies who have been in the world of fame for what, five minutes?

And I understand many celebrities have reasons why they don't sign, and I respect that, but there's no need to be rude. A little courtesy goes a long way.

no monkees complaints yet. i run a monkees forum and hear complaints on all four and good stories on all for.

i think the worst monkee is peter. he dosent like people to talk to him before the show and he goes around barking after the show at people who so much as wave at him before his show is over. now after theshow he is totaly different ,. he is signing autograzphs doing pictures just fine. go figure.

i know davy has off days and can be plain out grumpy and not do autogaphs and other times he signs for every one. you just never know with him.

as for micky he is the kindest of them all. thats why i'm so suprised when people get mad at him and call him some nasty names. they never explain what he does to get them upset? i do know micky dosent not like to be pushed into doing something and he will tell you how he feels. but he has no issue with giving autographsd doing pictures with fans even if you bum p into him out some place. so i wish the others who are upset would say what happend instead of just calling him some name?

and nez i know when he did his bok signign thats all he would sign the book. ad he gets taken a back buy fans who see him and scream. he not out as muc has the other guys. he enjoys being in his video ranch.

Over the years I've met a bunch of celebrities and sports stars that just refuse to sign. The worst for me were...

Loretta Swit.. She was playing in a local theater and I was the only waiting for her after the show. She refused to sign any of the MASH items that I had with me, and wouldn't even take a photo with me. She said that she gets paid to sign and wouldn't do it for free.

Dave Gallagher... I waited for him after a minor league baseball game and when I asked him for an autograph on a card he told me "that's not me", and kept walking.

Art Garfunkle.... After a show he came out and stood by his limo, and basically mocked everyone that was waiting before he got in and left.

David Crosby.... The king of rudeness..... I've been there when he cursed at people that were attempting to get a signature, claiming that they were going to sell it and that was "stealing from him". I also met him at a Philadelphia radio station where he refused to sign for two of us and threatened to call security even though we were in a public area.

I've heard of a lot of celebrities who won't sign blanks (blank paper, index cards, ect) because of identity theft.
I know Angelina Jolie doesn't sign blanks. I was watching her sign in a video one time.

I'm sure everyone of us here would be MORE than happy to spend one hour a week, just signing our signatures, if it allowed us to live the life of ease and luxury that they do.

And then you get a poor ****** like Robert Pattinson, who is probably the most hounded person at the moment, and he signs genuinely TTM, whereas most of the older, mega stars that don't have to contend with demented fans, and have much more to be grateful for than Mr. Pattison, don't.
its ridicilous to here about these young girls hounding robert, i understand when you meet a celeb your gonna want a autograph and maybe a picture, but these girls are just nuts. i hate to say this but because of this hes gonna stop signing ttm quite soon.

i know if i ever met a celebrity crush of mine, on their own time example taylor swift or chelsea staub , i would say you know hi big fan sorry to bug you but you can i get a autograph please, and maybe i would ask for a picture with them if i had a camera on me first of all and depending on how busy they were. i would ofcourse say thanks and then go on my way.
lol actualy id probably have to get whoever i was with to come approach the celeb with me because id be too nervice to aproach them myself.

anyway to answer the op's qusteion, one time i was told sorry i cant sign,

it was by ron darling former baseball player, current analyst for SNY and TBS.
well anyway he was on the field before a game a little bit before he was about to do the pre game show, and myself and a few people i was with called him , asked him if he could sign for us and he said listen guys i cant sign for you right now because then i gotta sign for everyone and im really busy , he was pretty polite about it but still a disapointment. he also said if this was any other time i would gladly sign.
