Would be greatful for any suggestions,

Thanks!

As for gifts, I haven't sent any yet. Not because I didn't want too, but because I use to work at two venues where celebs toured and performed. Most gifts they received from fans they'd leave in the dressing room or garbage can. I once was given a bottle of wine from a celeb who came through that they got from a fan. Since then, I'm always weary to send stuff. I think if I get a response from someone who I know for a fact will get my letter, I may send something very inexpensive.
Thanks, that's helpful. I sent a handmade friendship bracelet to someone from a soap, not a really famous person so hopefully it should get there!

As for pesonalizations I always ask nicely if they could sign the photo I enclose for " to my name".
Hi thanks, that is a nice way of putting it, I wouldn't know how to ask, see!

I sent a little gifts to Robert Pattinson, Natalia Tena and all Narnia actors (except Ben Barnes). So far I received back two autograph back, from Robert and Natalia, Rob send me an extra photo (I believe it was beacuse the gift) and Natalia thanked me for my gift in a questionnaire. In those cases I sent them handmade bracelets. What I sent to others I won't tell you, sorry, it was pretty unique and I don't want everyone to copy me. :D

You can ask for personalization for example like this: Could you send me your signed photo and personalize it if possible? ;-)

Sorry, I don't have an idea about Christopher Plummer  .
Hi thanks that's really helpful!

Thanks that is really helpful, just wondering - do you have any examples of celebrities that you have sent gifts to and what you sent - if you don't mind me asking. The whole personalising thing - how do you put it in writing - I was wondering if you could sign me a personalised autograph and so on?! Sorry to ask so many questions, I'm new to fanmail-writing!

P.s. Long shot, you wouldn't have any idea of anything I could send to Christopher Plummer, would you?!

Yes to personalization. It makes me happy, and I'm sure the celeb feels a little better knowing it's going to an actual fan rather than someone who's going to sell it (especially since my name isn't common at all).

As for gifts, I've never mailed one because it would cost more, and I'm not 100% certain they'll get it. However, when I have me celebs in person, I have given them some gifts to show my appreciation for their work. :D

Hello Phoebe! ;)

So far, I've only sent to "Stardust" actor Charlie Cox a little gift, as he's a very modern guy who likes rings and strings around his wrist, I made him a bracelet. :) I got a note back from him kindly thanking me. {up} That was my 2nd success from him. :D

Also, I almost always ask (very politely) for my photos to be personalised, because:
- they can see I'm a real fan and not just someone who's taking advantage of their signing
- I try my luck! And it has worked - I got a very nice personalised and inscribed photo from actor Alfred Molina, and he usually just signs his name so I was very happy!

Thanks,
zanne
