I've done both. Back in the 80's I was sending out about 1,000 letters a year. About 80% were sports and 20% celebrites. I was just interested in getting players that I didn't have.

Now I'm more selective about what I get signed. I'd rather find the perfect item on Ebay and get that signed. Something vintage is better to me than something made today that is mass-produced.

I will only send a request to someone I am a fan of. What is the point otherwise?
I wouldn't want someone I wasn't a fan of in my collection.

Quality. I only collect from people or shows/movies I really like/am a fan of.

Hey! ;)

Most definitly quality for me. {up} I only write to my most favourite actors and some sportstars. :) I would never want, for example, the Jonas Brothers in my collection as I'm not a fan of them... at all. So even though they're so famous and popular, I wouldn't want their autographs for free in my collection but I'd rather give it to a real fan of theirs. {thumb2} Also, postage costs way too much for me to write to every celebrity, so I save my money for my most wanted ones of whom I'm a huge fan. :P

Quantity is never important to me - I really don't want 500 autographs and I don't even know half of them. One autograph from my favourite actor is 100 times more precious to me than someone I don't know.

Thanks,
zanne

Quality or Quanity?

Do you collect autographs for quality(meaning you only collect for fans)

or

Do you collect autographs for quanity(meaning you collect for your fans but you also may get some autographs of people you heard of before e.g. a presenter, but your not nesserserly a fan.

or

Both?

I can't really decide so i would say both as ive started like that. Some of my autographs are from GMTV which i dont watch and havent heard of any of them except a couple. But i think after all the discussion on here about only collecting for fans - i might do that always.
