The problem with always sending 9X12 is that you have to put more postage on that. I'm always looking for ways to save money so I do my research and use smaller envelopes if the celebrity is know to send smaller photos. :)

and the envelopes had only a .42 stamp on it so it must be a smaller photos-maybe 5X7.

As I have no idea who she even is - my suggestion is to send a 9x12 envelope with your own picture.

If you just send a 9x12 envelope the worst that happens is that there's a smaller picture inside.
