It was amost eight years ago mate. I was actually still at school when I wrote him the first time! :shock: I also rewrote him just after you did and sent two cd inlays so I really hope he replies to us both. Fingers crossed! {thumb2}
yes i definetly do hope both of us get back, i would love his autograph, to be honest i figured id have a huge advantage to get his auto because very very few people my age know of the carpenters. he seems like a amazing signer but maybe hes just been busy.

A thank you note is never bad form.

I don't bother, I thank them at the end of the note. It's a waste of postage to thank them again...

margotchanning wrote:I've sent a thank you note a couple of times when I got really awesome responses. Once was to Robert Fyfe who plays Howard in Last Of The Summer Wine because he sent me a signed photo of Howard & Marina and not only did he sign and personalise it, he also got Jean Fergusson who plays Marina to sign it for me aswell! Another time was to Richard Carpenter as he sent me a signed photo, a preprint postcard of him & Karen and a letter answering all the questions I'd asked him in my letter. :)

anyway to awnser the orignal qusteions, ive never sent a thank you note but i did send a message to a couple celebs via myspace after getting a autograph from them to say thank you. other then that i wouldnt send a thank you letter because celebritys get tons of letters and if every person they replied to sent thank you letters they would have a ton of requests and a ton of thank you letters. if you wanna show a celeb a apreciation just do it in your letter thats all.

I find an email or myspace to send thank you notes to. (even youtube)

Otherwise, I say "thanks in advance" in the letter. :)

I sent few of them :) Usually to people I really really adore because getting their autograph mean a lot to me.

I know - most of the books I've gotten were written by the Medal of Honor Recipients or WWII POW's. They are so touching to read, I treasure them all. It's amazing the responses I've gotten and never expected it at all!

I think it's doubley exciting to get a signed book as you get an autograph and something to read! It's also incredibly generous of the person you wrote to to send a book as it's extra postage cost as well as giving away a book for free :) I would definitely send a thank you note if I recieved a book {thumb2}
