i dont know if the its just in the uk where you have to pay extra to ensure the envelopes dont get bent.

but now this qusteion has got me wondering about something, my sase which i got back from chelsea staub last week has do not bend stamped on front and back, and the stamps look like they were marked by hand, do you think she paid to get the do not bend stamped on the envelope?

The post office doesn't care if you write "Do not bend" on the envelope, unless you add extra postage. If you don't add extra postage, don't be mad if it gets bent. It's not the post offices fault for you being too cheap to put 20 cents extra on the envelope. If you don't add the extra postage it will go through the machines most likely, a lot of times they don't get messed up and bent, but sometimes they do. If you add the postage, they wont go through the machine. A lot of the ones that I added extra postage to didn't even have the stamps marked, sometimes they are marked by hand.

In the UK they dont charge for 'Do Not Bend' packages or envelopes :neutral:
It must be because they have to make sure they do not bend it {up}

its bs that you got charged extra for writing do not bend because like annie said they shouldnt bend our mail no matter what it is it could be junk mail and they wouldnt have the right to do it.

i personally never write do not bend thou,but theirs been numerous times a celeb or someone working for them has wrote do not bend on my sase and it hasnt made a difference really. if my photo does get bent a little after i recieve it ill leave it under my mattres for the night and it gets rid of the creases for the most part.

Surely if we send a 9x12 envelope it's because there is something of 9x12 size inside. Why would the Post Office assume the right to bend it to a smaller size for their convenience? If we wanted it folding, we would fold it ourselves and use a smaller envelope in the first place, would we not?
If the envelope is filled with legal sized paper, that can bent without harming the contents. If there is a photo inside, more care has to be taken. As someone else pointed out, mail is usually rolled up with a rubber band and the post office has to take extra effort if the contents can be hurt.

The line says
does not bend easily
so if you don't WANT it bent you should add the extra postage.

You don't have to agree with the rules, and all postal people don't follow them, but it is said on the site.

I'm well aware of the rules and how the postal service works, I've found enough rubber bands outside my front door to stock a stationers. :lol: I just wanted to rant at the injustice of it all. It's my belief that care should be taken with all letters. I don't think anyone sends a letter with the intention of it getting crumpled even if the contents aren't damaged. It's just my opinion {thumb2}

The bigger the company, the more mistakes they make.

First-Class Mail large envelopes are subject to First-Class Mail package prices if any one of the following apply:

• It is too rigid – does not bend easily

• It is not rectangular

• It contains items that cause more than 1/4 inch variation in thickness
Bold part mine addition. If you check the package prices, it comes out to 1.34. Your postal lady is not cheating you, it's the rules.

BossC
That would only apply if there was cardboard. So if you have cardboard that is what the .34 cents is about.
From what I read, the post lady said you have to pay more for writing Do not bend. The rule is if it can't be bent.
You should explain that to your post lady :lol: . There is a horrible one here, who makes me explain what I will use stamps for, before I buy them :? :shock: .
Yeah i didnt send any carboard and she defientely said because i wrote do not bend. just the fact that i paid an extra 68 cents for her mistake pisses me off. yea its only 68 cents but as much as i send out requests that adds up fairly quickly.
