I have had problems with post going astray before and as I discovered, ttm autograph collectors are easy prey for postal workers. The biggest problem is that they know we do not know when an item is being sent to us so we have no clue whether a request is taking a long time or stolen.

My problem was when living at my previous home. It was not just autographs not reaching us, but packages, statements, etc as well. I managed to get proof from a few lesser known celebs, banks, etc that they had posted to me and I not received the replies. I made several complaints but unless you catch someone in the act of stealing the Royal Mail will not do much. I did however obviously make enough noise as our post started returning to normal shortly after this and remained so until we moved a year later. We suspected someone at the local sorting office as opposed to the postman as we did not have a regular postman on our route.

We have not had any problems at our new address and our postman is friendly and reliable.

I've wondered that too - whether the Postie recognizes the same handwriting, envelopes and 'Please Do Not Bend!' on each of my SASE's... I'd be an awful postman as I think sometimes I'd just be too curious of what it was I was delivering!

Well I'm just glad I didn't collect autographs about 3 years ago, as my postman was prosecuted for failing to deliver 2,000 items.

He wasn't opening the items though, he just couldn't be bothered mailing them. We ended up getting some eBay items we thought had gone AWOL.

Well I don't think they would be stolen by the postman... but on Tuesday when my James Earl Jones autpgraphs arrived and we weren't in, the postman left the envelope on our doorstep (which can be seen from the main road). Luckily our neighbour took it in, but my mum gave the post office a right earful I can tell you. ;-)

My postman is friends with my singing partner Alan so I doubt he'd dare swipe my mail

I worry about this alot. I think my postman is fairly trustworthy but I do sometimes think that maybe he put it into number 42 in the next street instead of mine because the street names are very similar. We often receive the people from 42 in the next streets mail but I always take it round to them. They have never brought our mail to us, they're not the most sociable people so that may be why, or maybe they've never received any of our mail. My dog also goes for the mail so I have to race him for it.

Nice topic.

I acutually don't worry, mainly because my post man is really nice and he'll personally ring the doorbell if it's a large envelope with do not bend, but I do worry when it's not the normal post man because I think it might not get to me, but most of the time I'm not really worried about having it stolen because it normally is my normal post man `

Hi, paulmustang1!
I don't think your mail man is going to steal your autographs... Well, I hope it's not going to happen! ;-)
Anyway, some postmen don't like autographs collectors because they say that, with your "Don't bend" envelopes, you slacken their work rate...
