Matte boards are very cool, if your careful enough you can customize them cutting them for different setups. Very cool looking if you do it right. Zipbags knows what he's doing check out his past topics.

James,

It was me who posted how to do the matting. I get the matte boards at AC Moore. Which is a (US) national arts & crafts chain. Their are places online (again in the US) who sell it. The brand I use and which is sold the most is called Crescent Board. Here is the link to the company that makes it....

Its called decorative matboard and comes in sheets of 32"x42". Like someone posted above. It strong like cardboard and comes in dozens of different colors.

If you have any questions..Just let me know. Good luck.

Matte comes in so many different colors. Art supply stores only carry so many. Better to check on-line for a nice selection.

The matte is the inner frame to a picture. As in, you have the wood/metal frame, then a foamboard/cardboard piece under the glass, with a window in it. The picture sits behind that.

For instance, in this photo below, the picture has a black frame with a white matte.

You can try craft or framing stores and ask there. Try Hobby Craft or other smaller craft stores.

You dont have to have all these layers, but you can see the matte here:

I think what you're talking about is a material that goes over the photo and underneath the glass.

Matte is kind of like the thickness of a thin cardboard that is used for decorative purposes with photos and frames.

When you print photos they come in two types, matte or glossy. In the US, when I order my photos one hour, they are matte but if I send them off, I get glossy.

Hi - Somebody has created a thread explaining how they create autograph displays. They talk about a material called "Matte". Where can you get this material? I am from the UK, so high street shops would be best.

Thanks - James {thumb2}
