Yeah, I admit I did tell a couple celebs and atheltes I'm their biggest fan and keep gushing on them, then I realized, Wow there must be 100 ohter poeple thinking their the biggest fan and then the celeb must get sick of hearing that. {thumb2}

Haven't gotten an auto in couple days.....let's hope today's my lucky day! [ugotmail]

I always write something that a fan would know in the letter. For example, when I wrote to John Paul Lavoisier (Rex on the soap opera One Life to Live), I told him how much I enjoyed his scenes with Robert Wood and about a storyline I really liked.

However, a bit of a "oops" story is that my friend wrote to Jacob Young (JR on the soap opera All My Children) and wrote how much she liked his work as the character Jamie. lol. He wote back and said thank you for writing and basically told her that he played JR but would let the actor playing Jamie know she liked him. lol

So another do, is make sure you know exactly who you're writing too and if they are an actor - make sure you list the correct character name if you write about a specific role.

Those of who type out letters and send genreic form letters are taking the lazy road to picking up an autograph and not actually writing a fan letter. Most people may just add as a sidenote or post script (p.s.) the auto request while some make it an autograph request letter and I don't think that's right. I wouldn't want a letter that someone sent to every other star in Hollywood. It just shouts out "I am a collector that only wants your autograph and I want every person's autograph" while a custom letter shouts out, "I am a huge fan of your work personally and I would be honored if you could send your autograph because it would mean a lot to me." Of course these are just my opinions and you don't have to agree but I'm just laying it out there.

For those who want to send a true fan letter, take your time! Any hard work and dedication and time will only benefit and pay off!
Wow I Guess my Blank form letter that I personalize for each is nothing but BS considering I only write to celebrities that I want. I am not send to everyone who is easy to get.

I just feel that having a basic FORM letter written saves time.

I ALWAYS send a custom letter to whomever I'm writing to. I think it would be kind of rude not to. These people are taking the time to sign something for you. Why not take the time to sit down and write a letter? :)

good tips but one thing i gotta say , is not everybody can hand write their letters, some like myself have terrible handwriting and it really is easier for them self and the celebrity if they type it. i do always sign my letters though

I think that it's much more personal to send a custom letter for each star even if it does take longer.

Good tips! :D

Oh, and sometimes, but not so often, celebs are kind enough to pay for postage if you live abroad. Amanda Seyfried paid for mine and I sent an IRC and she sent it back, and I have re-used it. {thumb2}

Jen :D
