I have send well over a 150 requests since the end of March. Still bums me out when I go 2 or 3 days without a response. I feel like an addict. ;-)

Question ONE "What sort..."

I do not have a specific "type" that I collect. I started collecting actors in the 70's and still do. However, I do get on "kicks" where I collect from certain fields of endeavor. Recently I've been trying to collect atheletes (mostly baseball players) In the past I 've specialized (temporarilly) on Astronauts, politicians, authors and musicians etc. I still collect each of those but mostly try to build a Kick A** collection. Now that I can no longer practice my profession collecting is my main job. That and taking my dog for walks.

Question / Comment two "...great person"

Actually I have coined a term for myself. I am not a great person, I am exceptioonally mediocre. And mostly bored. I can not no longer do many things that kept me active. For example: I have made over 1,000 skydives and was a jumpmaster and instructor. I can no longer see well enough to be safe in the air, I was (still am) a fourth degree blackbelt in Jujutsu (other ranks in other arts) and was the main instructor in the dojo. I can still see some but not well enough to spot minor flaws in students techinques. I still go to the dojo when I can find a ride, and enjoy working with the students but miss not teaching on a regular basis. So I repeat that I am exceptioonally mediocre[/b

Wow, I think that's an awesome thing to do. {thumb2} I bet you're a great person.

Hopefully you do not receive criticism for such a large goal; you know, the whole "quantity vs. quality" debate...I'm right around where you are with 133 successes so far and about 200-something requests sent out.

Since last year I've been working my way through a 900-something person list of astronauts and aviators. I'm down to the last names starting wit 'T' so I'm getting close :) I've heard some comments regarding me sending out so many letters and how I couldn't possibly be a fan of all of them, but I just think it's really important to thank these people personally for serving our country.

What sorts of people do you collect DanaReno?
