It's been an idea, but I've never mentioned it in any of my mailings so far. But I've also got this idea to sent out follow-ups to my favorite stars that do respond. I want to send out a thank you to them with a letter that includes more personal info about me, and possibly a smiling picture of me and their autographed picture. {thumb2}

Me too...I must tell them my name,my age & where do i live....
I think they would be glad that their fans are around the world~ {up}

I include my age. I like the signer to know how old his/her fan is. It adds a simple, personal touch. 8)

Hello! ;-)

I always write my age. {up} I feel if I write to a person, they want to read about their fans - they want to get to "know" you. I mean, they already know that they're great and all, so if I only write about how amazing they are and how awesome their movies are, it would be knda boring. :lol: I do write about them and their movies though, but only around 3 - 5 sentences, not the entire letter! {thumb2} I mostly tell about school, my hobbies, my pets, ect. :razz:

Good luck collecting,
Lizanne

I just wrote to Shirley Maclaine. My letter started like this:

It was around 1974 when we first met. Of course I don't expect you to remember that, I was only about 6 or 7 years-old.
But you were campaigning with Bella Abzug and Louise Lasser in the Bronx right outside my front door. In all the excitement, I escaped my mother's grasp and ended up falling off the curb in a mob of people. It was you who came running to me first and scooped me up and kissed my cheek. Bella soon followed, and for a moment, I had my spotlight. And, now, here I am forty-one years-old and recounting the story to you like we were old friends or you were my grandmother recalling my childhood.

Ok, well, it was a special letter to her, but nevertheless, that is how I usually come around to including my age. In this case, it was a very personal letter for me. Unfortunately, we can't find the picture and think it was one that was in a photo box that was ruined by the hurricane we had here. But, I think it's always cool to get just a bit personal, but not too much. Otherwise I worry that they may think you are some crazed, obsessed fan, lol.

Good luck people. And I just recently got Phyllis Diller to sign a photo and that so far has been the highlight of autographs for me this year. :mrgreen:

Only when I'm writing to older actors & actresses who may not be expecting someone so young to be writing to them. I really go to town on my letters to these people so that they know I'm a genuine fan even though I'm young.

Considering I generally only write to academia (scientists, inventors, astronauts, Nobel Prize laureates, etc.) I don't put my age, but I say "I am an undergraduate at so-and-so university studying...". So basically, they know I'm college student age.
