It's not quite that simple. The size of the outer envelope depends on what goes inside. In other words, it depends on whether I'm sending a baseball card sized picture, a 4x6, 5x7, or 8x10. I've sent all of the above, and used various size outer envelopes to send. Of course, I go the extra distance and send photo mailers as my SASE for all my pictures, so I use larger envelopes than the average individual. I don't mind the extra cost for the peace of mind and relative safety of my pictures. For baseball cards only, I use a standard #10 envelope and take my chances.
