Honestly, I don't know how I got into it. I first started a plan to get celebrity autographs on index cards, and I would store those somewhere. It may have began when my mom and I attended an event at the Camden Aquarium in 2002 where a bunch of news reporters and anchors from a local TV station would be signing pictures. I think I told her of my plan, and she told me pictures would be better, so I stopped with the index cards and started getting photos. And I believe that event was the beginning of my IP collecting.

When I was in Jr. High, I started going to Star Trek Conventions. I'd get a lot of IPs there. James Dohan (scotty) was my first.
I stopped going to Star Trek cons around 2000. The fans seemed to be getting really obnoxious and just plain dumb. The TV series wasn't worth watching at the time and if I dressed up at all, it would be Doctor Who just to piss people off.
I started going to horror cons about 4-5 years ago and it's a much nicer crowd. The best one in the area is actually held about 20 minuets away from my home twice a year. IPs are great at these, although it's gotten more expensive.
I started TTMs about a year ago. I met Reggie Banister at a con and we were talking about how hard it is to get Angus Scrimm to travel a lot. I figured there was no way I would get to meet him in person so I thought I'd try to get him TTM. Searching for his address led me to this site. I also saw Bruce Campbell addy on the site. I'd missed him at two other cons so I thought i'd try them both.
Been doing TTM ever since, along with convention hopping. (Cinema Wasteland is in a mere two months!)

I don't really know, I just got it in my head one day to start writing to theatre people and asking for autographs (I was a big musical nerd as a kid, still am), and then branched out to the Buffy cast and a few other people as an older teen. Then I left it alone until 2005 when I found this site and got back into it in a big way. I'm not sure what renewed the interest...I think I just missed the thrill of the chase

My husband was working on a security detail for the Bushes (Daddy, Barbara, W, and Laura) and they volunteered to have pic taken and sign them. So after that I thought I would start collecting others. It's been quite fun

I used to read Tiger Beat magazines, and their is a spot for Disney Channel stars addressess and i mailed out some fanmail, and i got a couple of replies. ever since then ive been collecting
