Here's the second........................

When God Says No by Dr. Judith Briles. Briles is a public speaker and author of over 25 books.

Dave Barry's Money Secrets by Dave Barry. Barry is a Pulitzer Prize winning author and columnist. There was a movie, Big Trouble, that was based on one of his books, and also a television series, Dave's World.

Not a lot found at this sale, but I'm really happy with the Dave Barry though.

I went to to different Friends Of The Library book sales the past two weekends. I'll post the first, which is the best, in this post, then I'll post the second in a second post.
Here we go......................

Image
There Are Two Kinds Of Terrible by Peggy Mann(Houlton). Mann was the author of over 30 books, two of which became television shows(and one won a Peabody Award). She died in 1990.
Image
Image
Beyond The Yellow Star To America by Inge Auerbacher. Auerbacher was a Holocaust survivor during WWII. She has written 4 books.
Image
Image
My Daughter, My Daughter by Dee Brestin and Lori Beckler. Brestin is a public speaker and author of numerous books. Beckler is the founder of Heritage Keepers Ministry.
Image
Image
This Present Darkness by Frank E. Peretti. Peretti is a best-selling evangelical Christian fiction author, with over 12 million copies of his over ten books in print.
Image
Image
Rasputin, The Man Behind The Myth by Maria Rasputin. Maria was the daughter of the Mad Monk himself. She died in 1977, which is the copyright on this book.
Image

Moment To Moment by Rod McKuen. McKuen is an accaimled poet, author, composer and singer. What is cool about this book is that inside, there is a program, ticket and photos(Polaroids) of a concert he gave in Topeka, KS on April 16, 1975!! Obviously, this proves the authenticity of the signature!! :D

AWESOME! {up}

What is the appeal? An autograph for the sake of it being an autograph? Or is just the treasure hunt aspect that's fun, which I suppose I could understand? It just seems like after finding it you're left with a book that has little personal or emotional (and in most cases monetary) value. I'm not criticizing here; everyone should be allowed to have their fun. I just want to know what the appeal is for you guys.

its just for the fact of collecting. my goal is to aquire as many signatures as i can... even though most of my requests have been towards some of my favorite stars, i'd pick up a signed book for a quarter if given the chance just to add it to my autograph collection

especially for these reasons if i've never heard of them

A- might be somebody famous that i've never heard of (award winning writer etc.)
B- might be dead, or it might be from someone who didn't sign a whole lot making the signature a rare addition
C- might be something that i could trade or offer as a gift to someone else that would really enjoy it

For me, it's to build a nice collection that I can eventually sell or give away to future generations when I get too old to care, or when I die.

I went to a sale at a school and found an autographed photo of Margaret O'Brien that I thought was so cool! Plus the lady at the table I don't think realized or didn't care so she gave it to me for free.
