He hasn't signed TTM in years, and even if you are lucky to be close enough to ask him In-Person, his aides block you pretty well. I don't understand why they are hiding behind this and telling people to leave him alone. He doesn't sign autographs so there isn't much point to this.

It appears that it's being interpreted as a political gesture, but would think it equally likely that his staff just can't face the mountains of mail arriving all the time.

He's not in very good health, surely he's done enough to be allowed to "do a Ringo"
