its better off sending to players separately, however liverpool rarely send out authentic autographs, 95% of the time they send out pp autographs. torres and gerrard have signed in the past but successes from these are extremely rare these days. i normally send my own pics out of preference.

Although I'm not obviously sure, I think both are available ways. Other members who have experiences would help you for that point.

It is always suggested to send stuff to be signed. Even if you don't, some celebrities do sign their own pictures. However, not sending anything to be signed is known to lower success rate a lot. Also, my point of view is that it would seem to be kind of rude as a fan, so I always include pictures to be signed.
