I used to send thank you notes until someone made a comment that made me think. If every person wrote a thank you note to a celebrity who responded, that celebrity's mail would DOUBLE! First the autograph request and second for the thank you note.

If it is a GREAT success, I might-- but I haven't had any recent TTM successes that qualified.

I would love to befriend a celebrity. But I think I would be tongue tied if they called :shock: I do give my email out but not my phone number. I have gotten some lovely letters through the e-mail and those I always write back--I have time to think about what to say instead of having them call.

A thankyou note though wouldn't need an SASE, so you'd just need an english stamp to mail it off.
But some of us have a limited budget even for our own countries postage! I mean, in the uk now a letter to the US up to 20g costs £1.10, up from £0.97.

I only sent a thank you note once and that was to Eli Wallach as he was really sweet. Actually it was more of a second letter thank a thank you note. :P

It would be nice to send a thank you note for the special ones I admit, but I think I express in my letters how much I will appreciate what they sign for me and I think my usual 2 page letters go above the call of duty to let them know they are loved. {up}

That's very true, and I am sure they would love recieving thankyou notes/cards, but sometimes for the bigger stars I think they have enough mail to take up their time! Honestly I don't have the resources to do it every time but it is something I will consider in future {up}

Since I am always polite ans thankful in my request letters I rarely send out thank you cards/letters, but I did send a thankyou email recently :)

I do send thank you notes for people that have gone above and beyond on signing. Some have sent me other items that were special and deserved thanks.

I also thank them in advance, but sometimes I did send a "Thank You"-card.
eg. to Eli Wallach as I got a really nice and fast success! Melissa Peterman, Susan Sarandon, Isabelle Fuhrman & Justin Berfield (it was actually a birthday card), Paul Brightwell.
That's it I think.

I do it for various reasons, mainly:
tough signers
ones who send extra autographed photos as well as sign mine
ones who include a personal letter to me

I personally think it might be nice for them to get mail that is nit a request and also tells them how happy it made you & how much you appreciate it. I bet something like a thank you card would get passed on to them as well.

As like most people I always thank them in my original letter for taking the time to read and thank them in advance for possibly being able to sign.
