Do you by any chance live in a city that has a team? If so, get to know the graphers there. You might be able to become friends with someone who can get access to sites for you. It often costs around $2.00 per file.

As for finding images through search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc) some of the older players' images can be hard to find. You can also check sites that host pictures like Photobucket, Flickr, and the like. Sometimes a blog might even have a file big enough for an 8x10, but that's something I've stumbled upon from time to time.

Also, for some of the vintage players, try Life magazine images hosted by Google: http://images.google.com/hosted/life

To preface I'm strictly a baseball autograph collector and like to get my sigs on 8x10 photos. For the current and more recent players, it rarely an issue to find a good digital photo through google images that can be blown up to a very nice 8x10 but I'm having issues particularly with players that played for mulitple teams. I know some have issues with that but I'm not in this to make money so I don't feel bad saving myself a few bucks by doing this rather than paying some company for their stock photos. Anyone have suggestions for finding free use digital photos of players? The one in particular for me right now is Tommy Herr in a Cardinals uniform. As always thanks in advance for any advice.
