I do keep some of the envelopes, mostly so that I can write down when the celeb send it out some I can guess the time took to get to me. I toss my own SASES and the ones I recieved PPs in.
I sometimes add little stickers or decorations to the envelope I send to the celeb so that I'll recongize who I send it to when they use it but nothing too crazy.

^^ Agreeing with the above: I doubt anyone licks envelopes these days, I sure dont, gross!

Some celebs write stuff on the envelope so I do keep those. Sasha Alexander for example used her own envelope (it was a three year+ wait so maybe she lost my SASE) and wrote "do not bend" with the black marker which she used to sign the autograph while my address was written in a different handwriting with another kind of pen. Evangeline Lilly wrote my address on the her own envelope since my name on the envelope matched the dedication on the autograph exactly.
So I kept those.

I buy the envelopes with the peel off back for them to use seems to make them happy (I HOPE)

i keep mine cuz Im a pakrat but I like that idea ryan

I write on the envelope when I get them back. I put who it's from on the front and write the address I used on the back along with the sent and replied dates.

I was also wondering how people felt about writing on the envelope after it is received. For example, I have scibbled the date received on the envelope if I didn't take the time to file it on the date it was received. Should it be kept in the original condition if it's going to be saved?

I guess it's kind of like the choice between using a highlighter in a non-school book or not. Personal preference.

Same here. I feel the same way! I keep all the envelopes. I just started collecting this year, so I only have 5-7 envelopes, but they all seem pretty cool. I usually compare the writing on the envelopes to the player/singer/actor. When the writing checks out, I'm like, "They wrote my address! They touched this!" Weird, but that's what I think when I get an auto in the mail!
