Hi
There is an excellent thread on venues which do/don't pass on fanmail here
viewtopic.php?f=125&t=24711
The list on the first page was last updated on 20/6/10, so you only need to read the comments from that date to bring yourself up to speed.
I just Googled "alton towers address", and got 3,330,000 hits. If they're not on the list above about passing on fanmail then you could email and ask. When emailing venues, I usually work on the principle that if they don't reply then they almost certainly won't be organised enough to pass on mail.
As for writing via festivals, they are great sprawling things with loads of stages, no permanent staff, and the people working there are working all sorts of weird shifts and being sent all over the place. The backstage area will be being used for all sorts of acts in shifts over several days. There is no permanent admin, there is no stage door, and there are almost certainly no pigeon holes for fan letters. Personally I wouldn't waste a stamp - find a permanent venue, do a bit of research and write to one that at least says that they'll do their best to pass it on, or one that is known to do so.
Good luck!
