I prefer 7x5 - they seem a nice tidy shape, but am mainly using and getting used to 6x4s at the moment as here in the UK it's pretty easy to find introductory offers of piles of free ones. The little ones are very handy for sending when one has no great expectation of seeing them again, or for cheaper postage back from overseas, particularly the US.
If I'm writing to a band via venue I'll usually send a 10x8 with a great big white border to give plenty of room for all the sigs. Anything bigger feels unwieldy, and A4 reminds me of the filing at work.
